In Medieval Museum houses objects through which reflected the historical development of Cyprus, economic, social and religious life, and other aspects of daily life on the island from the 3rd until the 18th century AD.

Built in the 14th century in the site of an earlier Byzantine fortress. In this castle according to tradition, King of England Richard the Lionheart married Princess Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her Queen of England in 1191.

Among the exhibits include weapons, armor, tools, Byzantine, and medieval Islamic glazed pottery and utilitarian, bronze and glassware, lamps, jewelry, coins, objects of worship and architectural members from Byzantine and Gothic buildings, a series of plaster casts of the sculptural decoration of the medieval cathedral of St. Sophia in Nicosia, medieval inscribed gravestones and a skeleton belongs to one of the defenders of Nicosia, who had fallen into the hands of Turkish besiegers, 1570, and massacred.
