The castle and port located in Kato Paphos. They say that the castle was built by the Byzantines as a fort to protect the harbor. Now castle is for cultural events held each year in September. It has been declared a listed building since 1935 and is the symbol of the city of Paphos.

The castle has only one entrance on the east side and very small windows. The main part is a large square tower is in the middle of an inner courtyard. According to a Turkish inscription placed above the entrance, the Ottomans rebuilt the fort in 1780. Nearby are the ruins half the castle, which was probably built in the same period.

There is the perfect place to sit to enjoy your coffee and your food because there you can find anything you want in restaurants and cafes. Many tourists prefer this area to spend their time pleasantly. In addition there are small souvenir shops.
