The Museum of Natural History was founded in 1996 and was the first of a series of Community Benefits to the community.

The Cypriot Museum of Natural History is located at the Carlsberg factory in Latsia and is open to the public for free entry visits. It is a remarkable and well-organized museum of European level, which helps to inform the public about the fauna and geology of our country. It presents the visitor with the relief of nature and its representative specimens.

The Museum's collection includes about 2500 exhibits. Most of it consists of stuffed mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and insects, as well as rocks, minerals, semiprecious stones, shells, fossils and more. The first chamber presents typical rocks and minerals of Cyprus, such as sedimentary and volcanic rocks of 65 - 100 and 90 million years respectively. During the tour, visitors are informed about how Cyprus emerged from the seabed as well as the Troodos Ophiolithic rocks and deposits.

In the second room is the bottom of the Mediterranean where you can see stuffed fish, shells, shellfish and more. Particularly impressive exhibits in this room are the moonfish, the skate, the dolphin and the sea turtle caretta caretta. One can also see and compare Cyprus shells with ocean shells.

This section explains to the visitor how the 20th century's industrial and tourism development, as well as the constant contamination of rivers and seas in conjunction with the systematic catching of huge quantities of fish, have caused a disastrous disaster in the Mediterranean ecosystem. The need to protect the Mediterranean is also highlighted.

In the third room, the visitor meets two of the most important habitats of Cyprus, in part representations of the Paphos and Larnaca Forests.

The Paphos Forest is the largest and richest forest in Cyprus and is the only area of the island where we meet the Cypriot Mushroom (Ovis gmelini ophion). The wild is a species of wild sheep, which since 1978 has been classified as extinct species and protected by Cypriot law. This section emphasizes the conservation of the ecological chain of our country and its importance.

Alyki of Larnaca is the second habitat represented in this section. It is one of the most important habitats for aquatic birds in Europe. Visitors can admire an impressive collection of aquatic and waterfowl. In the fourth room, the visitor can study various types of the animal kingdom of Cyprus, their anatomy and habits, the species that make up their food and much more.

There is also an entomology room which includes insect showcases, butterflies and typical insect nests. The collection has also been enriched with a number of mammals from North America. Another striking thing is the representation of the Cyprus Rural Court with all the pets you could see in the old-time Cypriot courtyards as well as the fake dinosaur specimens that exist outside the gardens of the Carlsberg factory.

A visit to the Cyprus Museum of Natural History can give the visitor a deeper insight into the study of nature and love it, thus contributing to the cultivation of environmental consciousness and the collective effort to protect the natural environment.

On your visit to the Cyprus Museum of Natural History, you will have the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art Brewery, where the world-famous Carlsberg beer and the authentic Cypriot LEON beer are made. There is an explanation as to the ingredients of beer, the process and the stages of production before and after alcoholic fermentation.

Then the visitor can visit the bottle where he can follow the whole process and the stages of bottling. The first stage begins with the introduction of returnable, empty bottles into the bottle and ends with the export of bottles ready for distribution.
